water is being lost from the old worn out Hydrostatic valve.
Hydrostatic valves are
relatively inexpensive to replace. In fact the hydrostatic valve should be replaced every five years to
ensure you have a good seal and your swimming pool is not losing water.
Aqualine Pool Resurfacing can replace your hydrostatic valve

How the Hydrostatic Valve
Works
The Hydrostatic relief valve is
located in the deepest part of your swimming pool. It may be under the main drain cover or in its own
box situated on the bottom of the swimming pool.
The purpose of the Hydrostatic
relief valve is to open allowing the ground water to enter the pool to keep the equilibrium and to
relieve build up of pressure that occurs from underneath the swimming
pool.
Most Main Drain assemblies are designed with the same major components.
-
The Grate and Dress ring sits in the tile or marblite on the floor
while the remainder of the Main Drain assembly is cast in to the concrete of the
floor.
-
The Dress Ring does not have to touch the body of the
main drain.
- The Main Drain must be installed at the deepest point of
the swimming pool so the water is able to drain completely from the swimming
pool.
- The connection to the skimmer allows for a certain amount
of water to flow naturally from the bottom of the swimming pool in to the
skimmer.
- The valve stem protrudes into the gravel pit below the
structure of the pool so the water can drain into the pool easily.
- The hydrostatic valve is flitted into the base of the
drain to stop water going out but allowing high pressure water in so the pool does not lift out of the
ground.
